UPDATE:  4/13/23
Ben is learning the love a home and family can provide.  He's doing great with his house training and is good in the crate with no accidents.  His shyness around people gets better with each day.  He got over his shyness of eating initially in the foster home and now is probably the quickest Beagle eater on the planet.  He gets so excited to eat his meals now.  He's very food motivated.  When new people gather at his foster home, he finds peace and comfort laying in the backyard to simply observe the activity in the house.  He is learning to leash walk and doing pretty good.  Sometimes a life noise will happen and he gets uncertain and wants to go away from the noise.  Ben isn't very vocal in the house and when initially left in the crate for the morning, he howls for a few minutes and then settles down great.  Ben isn't a fan of strange/loud noises and will try to get away from the noise.  He finds his crate as a safe place, as well as the backyard.  Ben is sleeping in bed with his foster parent and no longer hides under the bed.  He's super sweet.  He is great with all over handling and being held.  He does well in the car.  He is allowed on the furniture in his foster home and does well, he's house trustworthy.  A home with calm children would be fine and Ben can likely be the only dog in the home if it's the right match for him.  He's a laid back Beagle.  He's ready for his sleepover home - is he the right boy for you?

Ben arrived from Mississippi on March 1st but needed a bit of time to gain some trust. He's coming along really well and here is what we can share about Ben today. He is a good listener, likes sitting on the couch watching TV and seems to prefer men to women. His foster dad says once he gave Ben some time to warm up to him, he has been very loving and follows him everywhere. If he is out in the yard he will also come when called. Ben really likes other dogs but seems more fond of dogs his size or smaller. He is good in his crate and doesn’t bark when left alone. Ben is making excellent grades in house training and he is really eager to please. Ben did test positive for heartworms but his treatment is scheduled very soon. He will make an excellent companion for a family who can just show him a little time and patience.
